Everything begins with a confusion of a technical era: what is a human?

This ancient question has been repeatedly invoked in the contexts of mythology, science, art, and technology. Born in an era marked by the explosion of artificial intelligence and life sciences technology, the imagination of “what humanity will become” no longer has a standard answer. Humanoid robots, digital avatars, virtual broadcasters, artificial organs, gene editing... are constantly refreshing our understanding of “what a human is” and “what a human should look like.” The “humanoid” is no longer the result of natural evolution but a composite product generated by the collaboration of technology, imagery, algorithms, and desires.

I attempt to pose a question through this work— in an era where the imagination of “human” is being reconstructed by technology, can we still confirm the shape of future humans? What I care about is not “what we can do with technology,” but rather “what technology has turned us into.”

“Human Morphology Research” is an experimental film centered around “the body,” divided into five chapters: Sacred, Rational, Technological, Dimensional, Intelligent. These five interpretations of “human” come from different systems such as mythology, philosophy, science, and technology, overlapping, intertwining, conflicting with each other, sometimes even being incommensurable. I hope to recombine these torn semantic jigsaw pieces through this work, attempting to outline a human lineage that crosses contexts and scales.
